Governor vows to boost Pennsylvania’s tourist appeal
Pennsylvania Governor Edward G. Rendell has said the state continues its efforts to push with new investments in agriculture and tourism.
The Commonwealth Financing Authority has approved the loans and guarantees for 35 projects in 19 counties aimed at completing construction and renovation work on projects that are designed to attract tourists.
One of the funded projects will bring an upscale restaurant and lounge to Bethlehem's South Side neighborhood, one of the city's largest tourism areas.
The restaurant, which will seat 200 people, will be the neighborhood's most ambitious dining and entertainment project.
Earlier this year, state authorities also announced free access to Pennsylvania's 23 historical sites for active military members and their families. The state is the ultimate destination for history enthusiasts, being the place where the nation was born and where the Civil War's biggest battle was fought.
Pennsylvania offers numerous other attractions and activities that visitors can enjoy including U.S. Brig Niagara, the Ephrata Cloister and the Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh.
The state capital Harrisburg is also home to the famous Farm Show featuring more than 200 events each year such as PA Garden Expo or Auto Boat Show.
