Older Americans continue to travel, says company
Proving that the holiday market is weathering the recession better than many other sectors, a company that organizes vacations for Americans 50 years or older has said the demand continues unabated.
Like many other industry players and commentators, Grand Circle says the economy is pushing people to seek exceptional travel values rather than cut back on vacations.
In addition to that, "[T]ravel is a bright spot during a challenging time," says Vince Cook, the company's CEO.
"If they can get a good deal, not much is going to stop them from packing their bags and heading out," he adds.
All this is good news for the timeshare industry which offers better value relative to vacation home ownership or comparable quality resorts and hotels.
Timeshares also hold a particular appeal to the baby boomers that are currently entering the retirement age.
That is because they are a flexible option that allows them to travel with their family and stay in fully-equipped accommodations whose value is locked at today's price, according to timeshare and hotel expert David Sudeck
