Top vacation destinations in Florida
Winter or summer, Florida's balmy weather and tourist attractions never fail to satisfy visitors.
One of the state's most popular destinations for nature lovers is Everglades National Park near Miami. Comprising 1.5 million acres of swamps, saw-grass prairies and sub-tropical jungles it is one of the most unique ecosystems in continental U.S.
To the south of Miami are the Florida Keys, a chain of coral islands of varying size which extend for more than 110 miles between the Atlantic and the Gulf of Mexico.
Perhaps the most famous of them is Key West, which in addition to lush tropical vegetation also includes writer Ernest Hemingway's Spanish Colonial house that is now a museum.
Visitors can admire his "last penny" pressed into the concrete and follow the descendants of Hemingway's original brood of cats which still live on the property.
Nearby Sarasota is the scene of the annual Sarasota Film Festival in early spring. Besides the film event, it also features majestic nature trails and eco-adventure tours.
Tourists are also welcome to visit Florida's arguably most popular city, Orlando, with its World Disney World and SeaWorld attractions.
The state is also world-famous for hundreds of miles of white sandy beaches, including South Beach which has become an epitome of oceanfront fun and relaxation, also featuring great nightlife and exclusive shops.
